Students visit Cambridge University as part of the HE+ programme.
Maltby Academy students have recently visited Cambridge University where they took part in masterclasses and received a tour of Cambridge colleges. Click here for pictures from the visit. This was part of the HE+ programme that has been developed alongside Cambridge University, Wickersley Sixth Form, Aston Sixth Form and Thomas Rotherham College. Students also take part in extension classes as part of the programme.
HE+ is open to all students who have been recognised as having the potential to attain highly in their A-level courses and are interested in applying to either of the ‘Oxbridge’ or Russell Group Universities. The HE+ extension classes are intended to enable students from the state maintained sector to make strong, competitive and confident applications. The specifications of the extension classes address eight core A level subjects: Economics, English, Geography and History; Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Through the programme, students become competent and confident in using what they already know to engage with new and unfamiliar contexts. These are key qualities which will benefit them through the transition from A-level to degreee level study.
