Maltby Grammar Business Hub revives popular 'Buy a Brick' campaign

The new Maltby Grammar Business Hub has announced the return of its successful 'Buy a Brick' initiative, allowing locals to leave a legacy outside the new building.
The 'Buy a Brick' scheme, first launched last year, offers former students, teachers and governors of Maltby Grammar School, Maltby Secondary Modern, Maltby Comprehensive School and Maltby Academy another opportunity to contribute to the permanent display.
The commemorative bricks, which are showcased on a specially created wall on the new entrance piazza into the building, can be purchased for £40 each and feature the person’s name and dates of their time learning or working in the school.
The re-purposing of the building, which is now officially open, has created a mixed-use, flexible complex providing a new Sixth Form centre, a facility that supports training and lifelong learning courses and provides bookable workspaces and meeting rooms. It is a product of a successful Levelling Up Fund application by Rotherham Council, securing £4.5 million to revitalise the historic former Grammar School building.
David Sutton, Chief Executive Officer of Maltby Learning Trust which manages the Business Hub, said: “The Grammar Hub is an innovative space designed to foster entrepreneurship and business education in the community, and is something to be celebrated and as part of this we're excited to bring back the 'Buy a Brick' scheme. It was popular when we first introduced it with the initial tranche of 100 bricks purchased and in place outside the new building. But with a new order of bricks on the way, it is hoped that more people will come forward to buy one and leave their mark on this remarkable landmark.
“The bricks, with a personalised brick face, are engraved with the purchaser's name and dates of attendance (where appropriate) and form part of this fantastic community resource.”
