Maltby Learning Trust Launches New Sixth Form Scholarships to Expand Student Opportunities

Maltby Learning Trust is delighted to announce the launch of two brand new scholarships as part of its Sixth Form Partnership provision, further strengthening its commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for young people across the region.

The Sixth Form Partnership, a collaborative sixth form between Maltby Academy and Sir Thomas Wharton Academy, is introducing the new Boxing Scholarship and Referee Scholarship to sit alongside the already well-established Football Scholarship. These new pathways significantly broaden the enrichment and progression opportunities available to students.

The scholarships have been developed in partnership with leading organisations in their respective fields. Maltby Learning Trust is proud to be working with DC Boxing to deliver the Boxing Scholarship and with the Sheffield & Hallamshire Football Association to support the Referee Scholarship. These partnerships will give students access to expert coaching, industry insight, and valuable real-world experience.

The introduction of these scholarships reflects the Trust’s vision to provide diverse and aspirational pathways for students with a range of interests and talents, supporting both academic success and personal development.

Dave Sutton, Chief Executive Officer at Maltby Learning Trust, said:
"We are incredibly proud to be expanding our scholarship offer within the Sixth Form Partnership. These new programmes provide further opportunities for our students to develop their talents, gain valuable experiences, and pursue pathways that align with their ambitions. By collaborating with respected partners such as DC Boxing and the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA, we are continuing to broaden our offer and enhance provision across the region."

The scholarships are now available to prospective and current students and form part of the Trust’s wider ambition to deliver high-quality, inclusive post-16 education.

The new scholarships will officially launch in September 2026. Students interested in applying are encouraged to register their interest online now to secure their place and receive further information about the application process.
