Maltby Manor Academy achieves Be Well @ Work Award

Maltby Manor Academy has achieved the Be Well @ Work Silver Award for Mental Health.

To be accredited by Be Well @ Work, the Maltby Manor Academy workplace was assessed in several areas including Human Resources, Absence Management, Healthy Eating, Mental Health, Physical Activity, Smoking, Training & Development and Communication.

Maltby Manor's strongest category was Mental Health, which is what resulted in them being granted the Silver Award status.

Joanne Cliff, Principal at Maltby Manor Academy, said: "We are so pleased with our Well@Work status, it is down to the hard work of the team; being supportive of each other and engaging with the support and resources we share.

"Over the past year, we have introduced several initiatives to support staff wellbeing; we have an open door policy for staff so that they have direct access to senior leadership at the Academy; we have created a suggestion box for staff to "air" things that are affecting their anxiety, which we then address in senior leadership meetings; we have started attaching motivational messages and links to mental health resources to a weekly briefing e-mail which is sent to all staff; and we have created a culture where staff are confident to discuss mental health with one another which allows for support to be put in place."

The Be Well@Work Programme provides a framework for businesses to work towards building good practice in workplace health and wellbeing. Being a part of the programme, Maltby Manor Academy now have access to a suite of information and resources, and access to workshops on a range of topics to support staff including sleep, menopause, domestic abuse awareness and health and safety.
